Official: Milovan Rajevac confirmed as new Ghana coach; check his targets

The Serbian has been finally unveiled as the Black Stars head coach following a press briefing held on Friday in Accra

Ghana Football Association has officially named Milovan Rajevac as the new head coach of the Black Stars after the much-anticipated press briefing held on Friday in Accra.

The Serbian, who left the country a little over a decade ago, signed a two-year deal to replace Charles Kwablah Akonnor who was sacked a fortnight ago following a poor run of results.

Meanwhile, Legon Cities coach Maxwell Konadu has been named as an assistant coach to Milovan as he is expected to help him with his indepth knowledge about the local game.

Although, initial reports suggested that Otoo Addo was being considered for the vacant position, the Borussia Dortmund assistant coach opted not to accept the opportunity.

Milovan, who is making a return to Ghana after guiding the Black Stars to reach the quarterfinals of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, will play his first game against Zimbabwe in the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers next month before he wrap up the qualifiers in November against South Africa.

The former Algeria coach is expected to earn $30,000 per a month and $300,000 as winning bonus should he guides Ghana to win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

His first target is to qualify Ghana to to the World Cup as well as win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Cameroon next year.
