The Black Stars boss has reiterated that His only reason why he didn’t call the Ayew brothers was to create space for newcomers

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has insisted that his squad which will play Japan and Iceland in an international friendlies next month was without Ayew brothers and Asamoah Gyan because he is already aware of their capabilities.

The brothers have been conspicuously absent in recent call-ups, raising concerns that their relationship with the coach has gone sour following an alleged indiscipline acts.

However, the coach is denying that assertion, adding that the relegation suffered by Swansea City also didn’t play a role.

“There are a lot of players I didn’t invite and I didn’t do so because they are not performing,” Appiah told SportsworldGhana.com.

”Players like Asamoah Gyan, Jordan Ayew and Andre Ayew are all players who have been tried and tested over the years.

“Ghanaians and the entire world know what they are capable of doing so I felt this is the perfect opportunity for me to try Emmanuel Boateng and Kwasi Okyere Wriedt in our quest to parade a strong team for our upcoming Afcon qualifiers.

“This is the only friendly games we have to play before we resume our qualifiers so if you want to try new players then this certainly is the right time to try them [but not because someone got relegated],” he added.

According to Ghana FA, the two friendly games will fetch the country $450,000 dollars.
