The talented midfielder remarkably dedicated his goal this afternoon to the former Black Stars player after he was confirmed dead following an earthquake in Turkey

Ghana midfielder Kudus Mohammed dedicated his goal in a 4-0 win over Sparta Rotterdam to former Chelsea and Newcastle United midfielder Christian Atsu Twasam who was pronounced dead following an earthquake that happened in Turkey a fortnight ago.

Kudus slotted in a free-kick by the 84th minute to add to two goals scored earlier by Dusan Tadic and Kenneth Taylor.

Atsu, 31-year-old, was initially reported to have been found few hours after the unfortunate incident but after couple of checks in various hospitals where victims were taken to, it was confirmed there was a mistaken identity.

As a result, some members of his family and his agent Nana Sekyere flew to Turkey to team up with his club in search of him.

Although, some people were found alive earlier this week, which gave hope to Atsu’s survival, the former Premier League player could not survive.

He was pronounced dead early hours of Saturday by the Turkish media and a formal release is expected from his club and management.

Atsu, who scored some incredible goals for Newcastle, FC Porto and Rio Ave, returned to Europe last years after joining Turkish top-flight side Hatayspor from Saudi Pro League outfit Al Raed as a free agent.

He signed a one-year contract and was in negotiations for a contract extension following an impressive season in the Turkish Super Lig
