Ghana Football Association have been paid $700,000 following Black Stars’ participation in 2022 Kirin Cup held in Japan AshesGyamera.com can report.

The Black Stars placed third in the tournament after defeating Chile 3-1 on penalties following a goalless draw in regulation time.

Ghana, who were paid $650,000 as appearance fees just like Tunisia and Chile, were thrashed 4-1 by host nation Japan in the semifinals last week.

However, they recovered on Tuesday to pick up bronze medal after defeating Chile 3-1 on penalties thanks to goalkeeper Manaf Nurudeen’s heroics during the shootouts.

For placing third, the Black Stars were paid $50,000 which adds up to the $650,000 to make it $700,000.

Meanwhile, Tunisia got $900,000 since they won the tournament and took the prize money of $250,000.

Ghana used this game as a preparation for 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola in September as well as a dress rehearsal for 2022 Fifa World Cup to be staged in Qatar in November.
