The visitors failed to comply to directives to isolate their players who tested positive to the deadly disease leading to an abrupt end of the game

Asante Kotoko’s return fixture against FC Nouadhibou in the Caf Champions League preliminary round was called off at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday after more than an hour of heated arguments.

Before kick, two players of Nouadhibou were reported to have been tested positive of COVID-19 and were set to miss the game but they surprisingly found themselves in the starting team of the club which raised series of protests from Kotoko.

Although, Togolese referee Komlanvi Aklassou tried his best to calm the situation by advising Nouadhibou officials to adhere to the rules, they were adamant to his advices and insisted that their players were fully fit for purpose.

After more than an hour of continuous protests from both Kotoko and Nouadhibou, the game was finally called off and both clubs departed the field of play with high hopes of having the verdict in their favour.

However, it is the referee together with his assistants and match Commissioner who CAF will at this stage rely solely on for the reports concerning incidents that led to the delayed and subsequent cancellation of the game.

Nouadhibou shared the spoils 1-1 with Kotoko in the first leg last weekend in Mauritania
