The Porcupine  Warriors season has taken a different twist as they suffered a surprising home defeat to the Wonder Boys barely a week to their continental assignment

Asante Kotoko’s ambition to win the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League title was dealt a big blow as they succumbed to a 1-0 home defeat to Great Olympics at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday.

After a boring first-half performances from both sides where chances became premium in the game, the fixture lighted up after the break.

The visitors began to create problems for Kotoko defence but failed to make it count on the scoresheet.

Great Olympics finally broke the deadlock by the 54th minute through Michael Yeboah. The midfielder headed beyond goalkeeper Kwame Baah for the opener after connecting a pass from onto a wonderful cross Abdul Manaf with a powerful header.

Kotoko changed their gameplan and moved men forward for the equaliser but their attack was consistently neutralised.

By the 72nd minute, Emmanuel Gyamfi missed a glorious opportunity to pull even following a rebound from Anabila’s free-kick which forced Konadu to replace him with Evans Adomako out of frustration.

Kotoko will now head to Dawu to face Dreams FC in the next league game on Sunday before they welcome Al Hilal Omdurman to the Accra Sports Stadium for the Caf Champions League first leg fixture.
