The former Black Stars skipper says the four-time champions have the slightest of opportunities to qualify but believes anything is possible in football
Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has admitted he was disappointed with the Black Stars’ 1-1 draw against Gabon in the second Group C game of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations ongoing in Cameroon.
The Black Stars after a brilliant start, thanks to Andre Ayew’s first half goal, went into sleeping after the break as Gabon drew even very later in the game.
Although, the Black Stars vehemently protested against the equaliser, the goal stood as the referee was adamant to their complaints.
“I’m not happy. To be honest I’m not happy with how Ghana played. I think Baba Iddrisu’s injury also affected the team because you could clearly see the Black Stars were struggling after his exit,” Gyan said, as quoted by AshesGyamera.com.
“We have to go back and start calculation. We need to calculate and see how we can qualify from the group. Ghana have a little chance because we have to defeat Comoros at all cost.
“I think Milovan should’ve brought on offensive players to kill off the game rather than wait and concede again like what happened against Morocco. Tactically, the Gabonese coach got it right. He saw something in Ghana’s team and exploited it,” he added.
Ghana now sit third on the Group C log with a point after two games, five points behind Morocco who lead the pack.
