The youngster has officially joined the Serie B as a professional footballer after four years with the youth side

Ghanaian youngster Ahmed Ankrah Awua has sealed a two-and-half-a-year professional contract with Serie B side Parma Calcio on Monday, the club has confirmed.

The 20-year-old, who has been on the books of the Italian outfit since 16, has been very impressive and has come through the ranks to now stand a chance of commanding first team action.

The youngster, who hails from Yamfo in the Tano North of the Bono region, was scouted by Arthur Legacy.

“Parma Calcio 1913 are delighted to announce that Alessandro Circati (10/10/2003) and Ankrah Ahmed Awua (03/01/2002) have both signed their first professional contracts, which will run until 30/06/2024,” a club statement read.

“We – in light of our commitment to bringing through young talents – are proud of Alessandro and Ankrah, who have been with the Club since 2020 and 2018 respectively, after reaching this great milestone in life and in their careers,” the statement added.

Awua expressed his joy after putting pen to paper and believes he would come good in the near future.

“To be honest, this feels really good for me and my family,” Awua said.

“I’ve been at the club since I was sixteen and I’ve worked so hard to come this far, so I’m just happy that I’ve been given the opportunity to push on to be a professional. It is my wish to repay the faith this club and coaches as well as everyone here have in me in the near future,” he added.

Awua joins AS Roma’s Felix Afena-Gyan as the talents Ghana will have to look out for in the future.
