The Black Stars continued their preparations for the upcoming Fifa World Cup qualifiers with a wonderful display in their first friendly game

Ghana’s Black Stars defeated lower division side Soccer Intellectuals 8-0 in a friendly game at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Tuesday.

The game was part of the preparations ahead of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe scheduled for Saturday.

Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac deployed a 4-3-3 formation as he started Joe Wollacott in post ahead of Richard Attah, Ati-Zigi and Danlad Ibrahim.

Dreams FC defender Philimon Baffour started as the right back while Baba Rahman took over the place of the left back ahead of Gideon Mensah of FC Bordeaux. Leicester City defender Daniel Amartey and Celta Vigo star Joseph Aidoo completed the defensive setup.

In midfield, Real Mallorca’s Baba Iddrisu partnered Thomas Partey and Kudus Mohammed in a triangular shape while Joel Fameyeh, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Jordan Ayew led the attack.

Stade Rennes midfielder Kamaldeen Sulemana scored a brace just like Steadfast FC youngster Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.

Also, Kudus Mohammed and and Benjamin Tetteh, Yaw Yeboah and Joel Fameyeh added one goal each to wrap up a wonderful display.

Interestingly, Jordan Ayew missed a penalty as he was presented with an opportunity to score his first goal in 47 games for club and country. However, he compensated his missed opportunity with four assists out of the eight goals scored by the Black Stars.

Ghana will continue with their preparations on Thursday at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium before Zimbabwe also train at the venue on Friday.
