The North African club will have to settle the Porcupine Warriors before they can sign a new player

The World’s football governing body, Fifa, has placed a transfer ban on Algerian club USM Alger following their inability to pay Asante Kotoko after purchasing Ghana striker Kwame Opoku.

The 22-year-old joined Alger in March and helped the club to finish in top half of the league but despite several communiques from Kotoko to them.

FIFA initially ordered the Algerian club to pay 300,000 Euros with interest but they could not meet the requirements which has landed them in a serious trouble.

“It’s true I have a lot of offers from different clubs but there are a lot of things involved that is why I chose this club [USM Alger],” Poku said when he signed for Algers.

“After I had offers from other clubs, I didn’t want to go away from Kotoko.

“Because they [Kotoko] were a motivation to me and they told me that USM Alger will really help me develop myself and to also push me as a player. That is why I chose USM Alger,” he added.

Algers cannot sign a player for one season until the settle Asante Kotoko.
