The Porcupine Warriors top hierarchy agreed to engage in a vote of no confidence in the board chairman following a clash of egos between him and the chief executive officer

Eight members of Asante Kotoko board of directors casted their votes in favour of a vote of no confidence to oust board chairman Osikani Kwame Kyei when a board meeting was held last week in Kumasi.

Before the much anticipated board meeting which took place at the Golden Tulip Hotel, reports were rife that there was a bad blood between the board chairman Osikani Kwame Kyei and chief executive officer Nana Yaw Amponsah.

It is believed by some people at the club that the board chairman’s workers at his Light FM establishment has constantly maligned Kotoko and dragged the name of the club through the mud.

The board chairman even reportedly sought permission to attend to a personal issue minutes before the start of the board meeting despite making sure that the meeting will be held in Kumasi and not Accra.

As a result, eight board members voted in favour of the motion of no confidence to see off Kwame Kyei as the chairman of the board. Pure FM has reported that vice chairman of the board Jude Arthur, Kwadwo Boateng Gyamfi, Kwasi Osei Ofori, Kwamena Mensah and Evelyn Nsiah Asare were part of those who willingly voted in favour of the motion.

The others included Kofi Amoah Abban, Mr Martin Osei Kwaku Brobbey, Mr James Osei Brown, Martin Osei Kwaku Brobbey and James Osei Brown.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Lamin and Joseph Yaw Addo were the only members who voted against the motion of no confidence and further argued that the board had no power to undertake such decision since it was the club’s owner Otumfuo Osei Tutu II who appointed him.

Kotoko are expected to come out with an official communique to confirm Nana Yaw Amponsah as the chief executive officer after his one-year probation in office came to an end last month.
