The youngster turned down an invitation to represent the country of his parents and he has explained why he took that decision after several deliberations

SK Sturm Graz forward Kelvin Yeboah has insisted that it was a dream come through after being called to be part of Italy’s U21 national team.

The 21-year-old was called up to be part of Ghana’s senior national team ahead of the 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa last week but he turned down the opportunity.

The Black Stars will host Ethiopia in Group G opening game on Friday at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium and travel to Johannesburg, South Africa to square it with Bafana Bafana on Monday

Yeboah suggests that he feels more Italian than Ghanaian after spending seventeen years in the European country.

“I came to Italy in 2004 when I was 4-5 years old. I got my passport for quite a while. In terms of football, I played in Monza, Novara, then I went to Gozzano,” Yeboah said.

“I found myself very well here, I already knew some guys from this group as a child because I played against them,” he added.

Yeboah was born in Accra to Ghanaian parents but moved to Italy with the parents and now holds the Italian passport.
