The Porcupine Warriors boss insists the outcome of their game in Berekum could have been different had the knight of the whistle ‘been fair’ on the day

Asante Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu is holding FIFA referee Daniel Laryea responsible for their 1-1 stalemate against Berekum Chelsea in Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors took the lead through Kwame Poku by the 18th minute and looked certain to pick their first win of the season.

However, a last minute tackle by Adom Frimpong on Samuel Amankonah resulted in a free-kick which was perfectly scored by Emmanuel Clottey with relatively the last kick of the game.

And Konadu could not believe his eyes as pressure keeps mounting on him after matchday two.

“It was a very good and tough match. I said that we came to win and that is what we wanted to do exactly,” Konadu told StarTimes TV.

“Had it not been because of [his mistake the day would have been ours]. He’s a referee whom I respect so much. I have a lot respect for the referee but then in the last minute I didn’t know what came over him.

“However, that is football so we accept it and will move on to the next game,” he added.

Kotoko are winless after two games and will host Great Olympics next in the league. However, they will switch their attention this weekend to play in the preliminary round of the Caf Champions League against Mauritanian club FC Nouadhibou.
